1 cup pigeon peas/arhar/tuvar dal boiled
1 big onion chopped
1 green chili chopped
green coriander leaves for garnish
1 medium size tomato chopped
pinch of asafoetida
1/2 tea spoon cumin seeds
4-5 curry leaves
1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder
1 tea spoon red chili powder
1 tea spoon coriander powder
2 tsp Ghee
Recipe : Add water to boiled dal till the consistency is acquired and blend well.
Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, when they crackle, add asafoetida, curry leaves , onions and green chili.
Cook stiring till the onions become pink, add all the spices, salt to taste and tomatoes, little (1 tsp ) water and cook till the ghee gets separated from the mixture.
Add two tsp blended dal and cover the lid and cook on low flame till the tomatoes are cooked well.
Add rest of the blended dal and cook on low flame for about 10-12 minutes.
Garnish with green coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
