Moong Dal Halwa is relished throughout Rajas than, during winters. It is a rich sweet dish made in Ghee and loaded with dry fruits. It keeps body warm, so it is prepared in winters, Specialty of Marriage Menu. It takes a lot of hard work and efforts to make this Halwa. In my Home town, gents of our family used to prepare it on festivals, as it require lot of strength to stir it. I love this Halwa, but can,t do that hard work, so tried this Instant Moong Dal halwa and it really came out so good.
1 cup Moong Dal
1 cup milk
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup ghee
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
1 teaspoon pistachio
3/4 cup water
Recipe : Grind the Moong Dal in a grinder to a fine powder. Add 3/4 cup sugar, equal water in a pan and boil stirring for 3-4 minutes, add cardamom powder and keep aside.
Now heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add the Moong Dal powder and cook on low flame till the raw smell disappears and it turns light brown.
Add 1 cup milk and stir continuously to avoid lumps, add the sugar syrup and cook till the Halwa leaves the edges of pan. Garnish with pistachio and serve hot.
