Doodhi na Moothiya is a popular and tasty Gujarati snack. It is steamed and sauted in oil , mustard seeds and sesame seeds, crispy and tasty.
1 cup rice ( coarsely grind)
1 cup pigeon peas (tuvar dal)(coarsely grind )
1,1/2 cup bottle gourd grated
1 tea spoon ginger,garlic and green chili paste
2 tbsp refined oil
1/2 tea spoon mustard seeds
1/2 tea spoon sesame seeds
1/2 tea spoon red chili powder
1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder
salt to taste
pinch of asafoetida
1 tea spoon sugar
Recipe : Mix rice flour and dal flour well.
Add bottle gourd, spices, salt,ginger garlic paste,sugar and make a tight mixture.
You can add little more bottle gourd if the mixture is dry. Don t use water.
Now make cylindrical rolls with hands carefull.
Steam them in a steamer for about 20-25 minutes. Remove the lid, and insert a knife in rolls, if it comes out clean, muthiyas are ready. Let them cool.
Cut them into small round pieces.
Heat oil in a non stick pan.
Add mustard seeds, when they crackle, add sesame seeds, asafoetida and muthiya and fry them on both the sides till golden crispy.
Tasty doodhi muthiya are ready. Serve hot.
