This is an innovative recipe made from leftover idly. Spicy dal stuffing and the tadka over it with crispy capsicum rings gives it a good taste. So let us start.
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan, cumin seeds, when they crackle, add onions, sauté for 2 minutes.
Add ginger garlic paste, sauté for 2-3 minutes, add all the spices and batter and cook continuously stirring till the mixture leaves the edges of pan.
Turn off the gas.
Now remove the center part of idly with the help of a knife, so it looks like a bowl.
Fill the mixture in the idly bowls.
Now heat 1 tbsp oil in a tadka pan, add mustard seeds, sesame seeds and asafoetida.
Turn off the gas and pour the tadka on idly bowls.
Garnish with capsicum rings and serve with tomato ketchup or chutney.
