Sabut Moong is a Gujarati traditional dish, tasty as well as healthy. It is prepared with butter milk, which gives a creamy texture and yummy taste along with rice. Moong contains Protein, carbohydrates and Phosphorus Sabut Moong with rice is a complete food. I am sure you will like this recipe
1 cup Moong/ Green gram whole
400 ml chhach/Butter milk
1 green chilly
1/2 inch ginger
1 tea spoon red chili powder
1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder
1 tea spoon coriander cumin powder
1 tea spoon cumin seeds
salt to taste
green coriander leaves for garnish
2 tsp refined oil
Soak the moong in water for 4-5 hours.
Cook them in a pressure cooker with 3 cup water for 2 whistles. Make a coarse paste of ginger and green chilly.
Heat refined oil in a non-stick pan.
Add all the dry spices in 2 tsp water and mix well.
Add cumin seeds in oil, when they crackle, add the ginger paste and saute for 2 minutes, add spices and stir till the oil gets separated from spices.
Add the boiled moong, mix well, add the butter milk slowly and mix well.
Cook on low flame for 10 minutes continuously stirring.
Delicious Sabut Moong is ready to serve.
Garnish with green coriander leaves and serve hot with rice. It is a complete food.
