Gujiya without mava

   Gujiya without mava
Gujiya is a traditional Indian sweet recipe made with all purpose flour and sweet stuffing inside. Three types of stuffing can be filled. One popular stuffing is mava stuffing. You can also fill semolina stuffing. I have filled coconut and milk stuffing. It is so delicious that it just melts in your mouth. I get lot of compliments for this recipe. So hope you all will like it. I would love to hear your suggestions in the comment box.
Ingredients :
400 gm dry coconut desiccated
1 litre  gold milk (with cream)
1/2 tea spoon cardamom powder
10-15 raisins
10-15 cashew nuts
sugar to taste
2 tbsp ghee
500 gm maida
100 gm ghee
refined oil for deep fry
Recipe : Boil the milk in a non stick pan, add the coconut and cook continuously stirring till the mixture becomes thick.
Add 2 tbsp ghee, cardamom powder, cashew nuts and sugar to taste and cook till the water of sugar is absorbed.
Add raisins and keep aside to cool.
Add 100 gm ghee in maida and knead a hard dough.
Keep aside for 20 minutes.
Now make small puris with the help of rolling pin and fill the filling of coconut with the help of gujiya mould.
Prepare all the gujiyas in same way.
Heat oil in a pan and deep fry all the gujiyas on low flame till golden brown.
Let it cool.
Then fill it an an air tight container and can use them for a week.
This method needs little time and hard work, but the compliments you would get will be great.
It is really very delicious.
