Singhara ( Water chestnut ) is a very healthy fruit available in the market during winters. It is full of calcium, good for Asthama patients and helpful in curing piles.
Some people and children may not like to eat it, so I have tried some quick, easy and yummy recipes of Singhara.
Singhara flour is used to prepare falahar dishes. I have prepared Singhara paratha, Singhara raita and Singhara chatni. A very healthy and yummy Breakfast. I hope you like them. so, let us start.

Preparation time - 20 minutes


Servings - 4 paratha


Recipe ingredients for paratha:

1 cup wheat flour
1 teaspoon refined oil
salt to taste
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 green chili finely chopped
15 to 17 singhara
1/2 tbsp cow ghee for shallow fry 

Recipe instructions:
Remove the skin of Singhara with the help of a knife and grate them.
Combine 1 cup wheat flout, 1 teaspoon refined oil, salt to taste, green chili, turmeric powder and grated Singhara and knead a soft dough without using any water.
You can add some more flour if you feel the dough is wet and use some more singhara if you feel it is dry.
Don,t use any water. 
Heat a skillet, make four equal balls with the dough.

Roll the ball with the help of a rolling pin with light hands using some dry flour just like we make chapati.
Shallow fry it on medium flame from both the sides as shown in the picture till golden and crispy.
Delicious crispy from outside and soft from inside Paratha are ready to serve.
Serve with singhara chatni and singhara raita.

Recipe ingredients for raita:

1 cup whipped curd
5-6 singhara
some cilantro
salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin seeds powder

Recipe instructions:

Remove the skin of singhara and grate them.
Add some water to the whipped curd and mix well.
Combine all the ingredients and mix well.
Tasty and healthy raita is ready to serve.

Recipe ingredients for chatni:

8-10 singhara
1 tbsp cilantro
1 green chili
1/2 inch ginger
salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

Recipe instructions for chatni:

Remove the skin of singhara and ginger.
Combine all the ingredients except lemon juice in a grinder and grind it to a coarse paste. Don,t add water.
Finally add the lemon juice and mix well.
Yummy chatni which goes well with all types of paratha is ready.
