Instant Pot Dal Fry is a quick and simple Dal recipe which can be prepared in Instant Pot. Best recipe for working women. Can be prepared within 20 minutes along with rice on other Gas.
I have used mixed lentils for this recipe, you can also use yellow split lentil for this recipe. 
Lentils are rich in Protein, good source of protein for vegetarians.
Lentils are cooked almost everyday or alternate day in my Home.
Mixed lentil is easily available in the Market, you can also make it at home by mixing all lentils like white split lentil, chickpea lentil, red lentil, pigeon lentil, yellow split lentil etc. in equal quantity.
Let us start this recipe in my style.

Servings -2-3

 

Recipe Ingredients:

1 cup mixed lentil
3 cups water 
1 tbsp cow ghee ( you can also used refined oil )
1 medium onion
1 medium tomato ( sour )
1/2 inch ginger
4-5 garlic cloves
1 green chili
3/4 tea spoon red chili powder
1 tea spoon coriander cumin powder
1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder
1/4 tea spoon garam masala
1/2 tea spoon cumin seeds
pinch of asafoetida
some cilantro for garnish

Recipe instructions:

Wash and soak the lentil for half an hour.
Meanwhile, peel the garlic, ginger and make a paste of ginger garlic and green chili.
Wash and chop the tomato finely. Also chop the onion finely.
You can make the ginger garlic green chili paste in advance and refrigerate to save the time.
Heat 1 tbsp cow ghee/refined oil in a Pressure Cooker.
Add cumin seeds, when they crackle, add pinch of asafoetida.
Add onions and saute till they turn pink. Keep the flame low.
Now add the ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell disappears.

Add all the spices, slat to taste and mix well.
Add chopped tomatoes and saute till they become little soft.
Finally add the soaked lentil , saute for 2-3 minutes, add 3 cups water and pressure cook it for 2 to 3 whistles on low flame.
Open the lid after 10 minutes, garnish with cilantro and serve hot with rice chapati or paratha.
If you are cooking this for dinner, avoid pigeon lentil and chickpea lentil because they are heavy to digest.
Either use yellow split lentil with green split lentil or use mixed lentil because mixed lentil saves us form gastric problem.
